Chris Robinson Brotherhood is set to release their 6th studio Long Play album, Servants of the Sun in June. Past Wednesday , the band unveiled a new music video song “Chauffeur’s Daughter”. The single is produced by Robinsons private label Silver Arrow Records.
In the song, Robinson sings about a cozy companion who’s a source of warmth and comfort for him: ”When the roads get rocky, she’s my easy ride.”
The music video was directed by a famous rock videographer Jay Blakesberg. His work has been featured in the Rolling Stone magazine and countless other publications. Chauffeurs Daughter shows the band playing at the country club in Marin County, Terrapin Crossroads. Between the performance cuts, the director inserts shots of Robinson riding around in the back of a limousine.
In fact, in the drivers seat is no other than Robinson’s actual real-life partner, Camille.
Camille chauffeurs Chris around as he lays back with his legs extended on the opposite seat and plays his guitar. Later in the video, they pull over for a short hike near a riverside.
“‘Chauffeur’s Daughter’ is an effervescent little love song brought to life in the wilds of Marin country with my partner Camille,” Chris Robinson told Rolling Stone magazine.
The director Jay Blakesberg also elaborated on the making of the video: “Chris sent me songs and lyrics and several of the ones they were thinking about for singles immediately jumped out at me. Before I even talked to Chris I knew ‘Chauffeur’s Daughter’ was loosely based on his girlfriend. I have a friend who owns a 1990 Lincoln Stretch Limo, and if I could convince his girlfriend to drive it I figured it would be super cool. I shifted the storyline a little so that she starts out as the Chauffeur, with Chris riding in the back seat, but eventually they become a ‘couple’ and Chris moves to the front seat. I wanted the limo scenes set in a more rural locale as I thought that would be a more interesting backdrop instead of the limo driving in a city…”
The clip sums up the breezy lifestyle that’s the cornerstone of the CRB’s music. Robinson remembers, “When I was young, I just wanted to fly through the air. Now, I feel like a gardener most of the time. What you plant, nourish and take care of – grows and comes back at you in fulfilling ways. “
The video is surely dreamy featuring the Lincoln from the nineties. For a latest model Lincoln, be sure to rent one at Elite Chicago Limo – Chicago’s finest limousine service provider.
